All four strands of the STEM Academy (life science, computer science, engineering and medicine) have been working hard on our three minute video for the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow contest. We are the VT state winner, these means we had the opportunity to make a video explaining how we are going to use STEM to solve a problem in the community. The problem we picked is the white nose fungus that is decimating the little brown bat population. We will help by making a clean, fungus-free house for the bats to live in, complete with sensors so we can monitor the bats and learn more about them. The video is now being judged in the national Solve for Tomorrow contest, we get some feedback on it in early March.
